James Howard Kunstler is the author of four non-fiction works on cities and the challenges facing American society, including: The Geography of Nowhere; Home From Nowhere; The City in Mind; and his ground-breaking book on the peak oil crisis, The Long Emergency (Grove-Atlantic, 2005). His most recent work is the fictional World Made by Hand, a novel of America's post-oil future. He is a regular contributor to the New York Times Sunday Magazine and Op-Ed page, where he has written on environmental and economic issues.
Jim is a sought-after speaker and commentator and has been featured in numerous major publications, television interviews, and documentaries, including The End of Suburbia. He has lectured at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, MIT, and many other colleges, and has appeared before many professional organizations including the AIA, the APA, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
