"Life Matters" on ABC Radio National, Australia, talks to the Cockburn family, who lived for six months without spending money in an effort to see how self sufficient they could be on a 1/2 acre suburban block.

"A story about downsizing. Extreme downsizing. We hear about a family who decided to try to live for six months without spending a dollar. Just imagine how you’d cope without using a car, going to the supermarket, and worst of all no toilet paper.

But the object was not to save money.

Linda Cockburn and her family survived this bold experiment and she told us about the real motivation for such a dramatic life change."
